Trauma Sensitive Yoga Certification

A trauma sensitive yoga certification is someone who has taken a special training in how to teach to students with a wide range of backgrounds. Trauma sensitive yoga instructors learn how to create a safe, welcoming space for all students and provide them with tools for self-regulation, reconnection to the body, and resiliency. They also teach how to recognize trauma symptoms in their students and know what types of poses to avoid in class. Some 200-hour and 300-hour yoga teacher training courses include a module on trauma sensitive yoga. However, many people feel more equipped to work with trauma survivors if they take a training specifically on trauma informed yoga.

Empower Yourself with Trauma Sensitive Yoga Certification: Healing Through Awareness

Taking trauma sensitive yoga training is generally recommended for yoga teachers, social workers, psychologists, educators and health care professionals who want to deepen their understanding of the whole-system impact of complex, intersectional trauma. Some research, particularly on women with chronic and treatment resistant PTSD, supports that trauma-informed yoga can be a viable adjunctive mental health intervention.
